Dr. Daniel Schatz is an international affairs expert, journalist and political consultant currently serving as Visiting Scholar at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service. With mastery of six languages, his two-decade international experience encompasses government and political affairs, communications, academic and policy research and public relations.
Dr. Schatz holds a Doctorate in Political Science from the Humboldt University of Berlin. He has served as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University’s Program on Transatlantic Relations, Stanford University's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and New York University’s Center for European and Mediterranean Studies. He was appointed as a non-resident Visiting Researcher at New America’s International Security Program, the Europe Forum of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at Lund University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
Dr. Schatz’s award-winning work on international affairs has been featured in some of the world's prominent media outlets including The New York Times, the Economist, Newsweek, Foreign Policy, Forbes Magazine, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Die Welt, and the Wall Street Journal. He has been a contributor to CNN as well as NBC News, worked as an op-ed writer in Svenska Dagbladet, Sweden's largest daily, and published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals. He was named a New Leader by the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs and served as an elected member of the Harvard Club of New York.
With a background in politics, communications and diplomacy, Dr. Schatz was a founding partner of Intelligent Consulting, a political risk, government affairs and public relations firm advising clients seeking guidance on navigating today’s complex geopolitical environment while amplifying their message to global audiences. Dr. Schatz graduated with a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Lund and completed studies in International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and New York University. He speaks Swedish, English, Polish, German, Hebrew and Russian.
